Kings Of Leon has canceled a raft of live dates to allow drummer Nathan Followill to recover from injuries he sustained in a bus crash.
The show, however, will go on at The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday (Aug. 12). The late night entertainment program’s resident band leader Questlove will come to the rescue and take the drumsticks for a one-off performance of “Family Tree,” which appears on the band’s 2013 album Mechanical Bull.
Kings of Leon’s Nathan Followill ‘Banged Up’ After Tour Bus Accident
KoL has nixed all shows on the Mechanical Bull tour over the next two weeks on the orders of Nathan’s doctor. The band’s drummer is now convalescing after he broke a rib in an accident when the group’s bus was en route to the hotel after a Boston gig. Nathan said at the time he was “banged up,” but his doctor is more specific on his recovery plan. “The process is now to rest in order for healing to take place,” comments Dr. Faiz Bhora, chief of thoracic surgery at Mount Sinai Roosevelt Hospital, in a statement. “To avoid complications and to make a full recovery, a break from performing to Aug. 28 is necessary,” the message continues.
At this stage, the band is pencilled in to make a return to the road on Aug. 28, where they will take the stage at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ. “I’m counting down the days until I can get back in the saddle and continue what has been our best American tour so far,” Nathan says in a statement.
